What is Hype?
From the Tumult website: Create beautiful HTML5 interactive and animated web content. Tumult Hype work on desktops, smartphones and tablets. No coding required. One of its strongest features is that it has a keyframe based animation system. This animation system can be used in conjunction with multiple timelines in a single scene/slide. The timelines can be independent, inter-dependant, and relative to each other. Other than learning objects, Hype is also used to create animations, web pages, infographics, eBooks, eCards and presentations. An example that came to mind was an animated comic book that I realy liked. The best way I can compare Hype to other authoring tools as a learning developer, is that I can recreate any project made with Articulate Storyline, Rise, Adobe Captivate etc. to their finest detail with Hype, but the reverse isn’t possible. In just a few minutes I can create something in Hype that none of the other tools can do. No code required? Yes, no coding skills needed, but if you are prepared to engage with JavaScript, you can unlock a whole different world. I consider myself to have been in the back of the queue when coding talent was dished out, yet I have learnt to use code to augment my projects. The main reason for me being able to dip my toe into the world of coding is because of the supportive Hype community. I literally have the forums.tumult.com tab permanently open in my browser. No, you didn’t misread. Permanently! I believe that Hype should at least be one of the go-to tools in any learning team’s arsenal. If you want to check what the Hype is all about, they have a trial version available. Buying the app does not break the bank either.
